Title: A Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use a Manual Impulse Sealer

1
A Step-by-Step Guide How to Use a Manual Impulse
Sealer
2
STEP 1 Choose the Right Heat Sealer for Your
Application
3
  • When looking for a manual impulse sealer, there
are many types available on the market - each
with its unique features, capabilities, and
sealing dimensions. It is important that you
choose a machine that suits your budget and
packaging needs. Before purchasing a heat sealer,
consider factors such as the size, thickness, and
material of the bags you will be using.
  • For small bags, a compact yet mighty sealer like
our MMS-100 will do the job. Larger products may
require a hand sealer with a larger sealing area
    - like our MMS-500 or the extra long MMS-1000-H.
You should also think about how frequently you
will be using the sealer, as well as the the
width of the seal. Most impulse sealers have a
    standard 2mm sealing element.
  • If you're looking for an extra thick seal, go
with an impulse sealer equipped with a wide 5mm
seal. Last, consider whether you would benefit
from a sealer with a cutter. Taking these factors
into account will help you choose a sealer that
meets your specific requirements and ensures your
    packaging is secure and professional-looking.

4
STEP 2 Find a Work Area Position Your Machine
5
  • To ensure your safety and the safety of those
around you, place your machine over a flat and
level surface that is free from liquids or
flammable materials. This will prevent the sealer
from tipping over or being damaged during use.
Additionally, make sure you consider the
ergonomics of your workspace. Position your
machine at a comfortable height for you to use,
and make sure that the handle is within easy and
comfortable reach to reduce the risk of strain or
    injury.
  • Before using your manual impulse sealer, check
that the power cord is in good condition and that
the power source you will be using is the correct
voltage for your machine. Connect the unit only
to a suitable power source to prevent any
electrical hazards that could arise from using
the sealer with an incompatible source of
    electricity.

6
STEP 3 Fill Prepare the Bag
7
  • The preparation of your heat-sealable bag is
crucial to ensuring a strong and lasting seal.
Make sure your bag is clean and free of debris
before placing your product inside. Dirt, dust,
    and other contaminants could potentially
interfere with the sealing process, causing weak
or incomplete seals that may leak during storage
    or transportation.
  • Once your bag is clean and ready, position it
carefully over the sealing area. Any
irregularities in the surface of your bag can
create gaps or weak spots in the seal. This can
compromise the freshness and quality of your
product, leading to customer dissatisfaction and
lost revenue. Before sealing, double-check for
any wrinkles, folds, or creases that could
interfere with the sealing process, and make sure
the bag is lying completely flat and even on the
    seal area.

8
STEP 4 Adjust the Sealing Time
9
  • The manual impulse sealer is a versatile tool,
known and used across many industries to seal a
range of bags and packaging materials. One of the
key features that makes them so adaptable is
their adjustable seal timer. This timer allows
you to create a strong and airtight seal -
regardless of the thickness and material of your
heat-sealable bag - by regulating the amount of
time heat is applied during the sealing process.
  • Sealing times vary from bag to bag. Many bags,
like those made from thinner materials, can be
effectively closed with just a quick blast of
heat. For thicker bags, a longer seal time may be
needed to create a secure and long-lasting seal.
You'll want to adjust your sealing time based on
the type of bag you will be sealing. A short seal
time may produce weak or incomplete seals, which
could result in leaks or damage to the product
inside. On the other hand, if the seal time is
too long, the bag may become too hot, which could
cause it to melt or warp.
  • An impulse sealer's timer knob is usually
located at the front of the machine and can be
easily adjusted by turning it to the appropriate
setting. To determine the right seal time for
your bags, it may be helpful to test different
seal times on a sample bag before sealing your
entire batch. Start with a shorter seal time and
gradually increase it until you achieve a strong,
airtight seal. Keep in mind that seal time may
also depend on factors such as the temperature
and humidity of your workspace - so make
    adjustments as needed.

10
STEP 5 Seal the Bag
11
  • Now that you have positioned your bag correctly
and adjusted the timer, it's time to seal the
bag. To do this, place your hand over the handle
and lower the sealing jaw. Apply enough pressure
to ensure that the handle arm is squarely and
completely in contact with the lower unit. This
will activate the sealer and energize the heating
    element.
  • When the sealing jaw makes contact with the
lower unit, a small light will turn on under the
sealing timer knob, indicating that the machine
has begun sealing. Hold the handle down until the
light turns off. When the light turns off, the
seal is complete. Allow the bag to cool down for
a few seconds before releasing the sealing jaw.
This will prevent any accidental tearing or
damage to the seal. Once the seal has cooled
down, release the handle and take the bag out.

12
STEP 6 Inspect the Seal on Your Bag
13
  • After sealing your bag, take a few seconds to
carefully examine the seal for signs of damage,
leaks and other defects. This will ensure that
your products are always protected during storage
and transportation. If you notice any issues with
the seal, take the necessary steps to adjust the
seal time or handle pressure and try again.
Inspecting your seals can also help identify any
underlying issues with your sealing machine as
well, such as overdue maintenance or a worn-out
sealing element. By regularly inspecting the seal
and making adjustments when necessary, you can
ensure that your sealing process is efficient and
reliable, and your products are well-protected.
