What is meditation?
  • The root of the word meditation is similar to
    that for medical or medicate.
  • Meditation is the simple technique for resting
    the mind and attaining a state of consciousness.
    It is all about being clear, relaxed, and
    inwardly focused.

Steps of Meditation
  • Cleansing
  • Stretching
  • Relaxing
  • Calming the mind nervous system
  • Sitting in meditation

Meditative Postures
  • The friendship pose (maitri asana)
  • The easy pose (Sukhasana)
  • The auspicious pose (swastikasana)
  • The thunderbolt pose (Zen sitting position)
  • The accomplished pose (siddhasana)
  • The lotus pose (padamasana)

Golden Rule of The Art of Meditation
  • You cannot not think about something by
    thinking about it
  • It is impossible to avoid thinking about anything
    by telling yourself that you are not going to
    think about it.

Dont let the mind wander. Simply maintain
awareness with alertness. Just be here now, in
the present moment. This can be achieved by six
principles of meditation.

  2. No Calculation Dont Pursue Thoughts of the
    Present
  3. No imagination Dont Imagine What may Happen in
    the Future
  4. No Examination Dont Analyse Your Thoughts
  5. No Construction Dont Try to Create an
    Experience
  6. No Digression Dont Wander, Simply Stay in the
    Present Moment

The final step of art and science of meditation
is to remain in silence.
