Packing Fragile Items for a Move
  • Moving can be stressful, but choosing the
appropriate moving company can help ensure a
seamless transition. There are numerous moving
firms to select from if you are moving in or
around the Chicago area. Here are some hints for
packing fragile items for relocation and
selecting the best Chicago moving company
  • Gather Supplies
  • Before you start packing, gather all the
necessary supplies. Here's what you'll need
  • Boxes in various sizes
  • Bubble wrap
  • Packing paper
  • Packing tape
  • Labels
  • Marker
  • Sort Your Things
  • The first step in packing fragile objects is to
categorize them. This will make packing them
easier and ensure that nothing is left behind.
Some examples of common categories are
  • Glassware
  • China

  1. Electronics
  2. Artwork
  3. Mirrors
  4. Wrap Each Item

Once you've determined your categories, it's time
to begin wrapping each item. Here's how it's
done Glassware and China Begin by layering
packing paper on the bottom of the box. Place
each piece in the box after wrapping it in bubble
wrap. Fill any holes with crumpled packing paper
to keep goods from moving around.
3
Electronics If feasible, wrap each item in
bubble wrap and place it in its original box. If
not, use a slightly larger-than-normal box and
fill any gaps with packing paper. Artwork and
Mirrors Wrap the item in bubble wrap and
cardboard, or use a picture box. Make sure to
tightly tape the cardboard to prevent it from
shifting during transit. Pack the Boxes Once each
item is wrapped, it's time to pack the boxes.
Here's how Use small boxes for heavy items and
larger boxes for lighter items. Label each box
with its contents and whether it's fragile or
not. Place heavier items on the bottom of the box
and lighter items on top. Fill any gaps with
packing paper to prevent items from moving
around.
