1KASHMIR TULIP FESTIVAL 2023 EXPERIENCE THE TULIP
BLOSSOM The Kashmir Tulip Festival is an annual
festival held in the Indian-administered union
territory of Jammu and Kashmir, usually in the
month of April, to celebrate the blooming of
tulips in the region. The festival takes place
in the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, which
is located in the foothills of the Zabarwan
range, overlooking the Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The festival was started in 2007 by the then
Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi
Azad, to promote tourism in the region. The
Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, which was
previously known as the Siraj Bagh or the Mughal
Gardens, was renovated and converted into a tulip
garden for the festival.
The festival features a wide variety of events
and activities, including cultural performances,
food stalls, handicraft exhibitions, and a
photography competition. Visitors can also enjoy
the scenic beauty of the tulip garden, which
features over 1.5 million tulips in different
colors and varieties.
