  • A range of digestive conditions can potentially
respond well to traditional Chinese medicine,
especially for people who have tried other
    approaches that have unfortunately been
    unsuccessful. This includes
  • Acupuncture  The aim is to treat the root of a
    digestive condition and promote overall
well-being and calm. Acupuncture deals with the
flow of qi and is an integral part of traditional
Chinese medicine. First used more than 2500 years
ago, it is possible to use acupuncture to treat
    complex digestive issues.
  • Chinese herbal medicine The aim of using a
selection of herbs is to restore the body to good
digestive health and balance. Chinese medicine
offers the prospect of healing in this area.
  • Tui na massage Typically used to treat chronic
musculoskeletal problems, lower back pain, frozen
shoulders and so on, it can also treat people
suffering from digestive issues such as IBS
    (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
  • Qi Gong A calming exercise that affects the
parasympathetic nervous system which in turn
helps the regulation of the digestive organs, and
breath work practices facilitating the movement
of the digestion by massaging the internal
organs with the pump like action of the diaphragm
and reaction of the pelvic floor.

Where Chinese medicine is concerned, the main
organs associated with digestive disorders
are Spleen This is because its white blood
cells fight infection in the blood. It also
controls levels of platelets and white and red
blood cell levels in our bodies. The Spleen needs
to be moist to work well.  Stomach The stomach
is where foods are broken down to help the body
digest them. The stomach needs to be on the drier
side to function well.  When the balance of both
Spleen (Yin) and the Stomach (Yang) is disturbed,
the digestive system can develop issues.

  • Common and Chronic Issues
  • These include
  • Chronic fatigue as a result of digestive issues
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Gastrointestinal infections
  • Circulation issues in the gastrointestinal
    system, such as cramps
  • Bacterial infections, including salmonella
  • Gastric ulcers
  • Gastritis and gastroenteritis
  • Crohns disease and other inflammatory bowel
    conditions

  • Treatment
  • A reputable Chinese medicine practitioner in our
London clinic may use a mixture of acupuncture,
including Moxibustion, Chinese medicine, and Tui
na massage, to treat digestive disorders.
However, each patient is personally assessed to
receive the right healing technique for their
    chronic condition.
  • If you are struggling with digestive issues,
either those on the list above or other
difficulties, Chinese medicine can help restore
digestive balance and harmony. In addition,
acupuncture treats the whole person, not just the
symptoms. Also, it can help relieve stress and
upset caused by persistent and chronic digestive
conditions that have thus far not responded to
    treatment.
  • To learn more about how we can help, book an
appointment with one of our experienced and
    well-qualified Chinese medicine practitioners in
London. Visit Acubody today to learn more.
