Gluten Disorders and Gluten facts
2
What is Gluten?
  • Gluten is a general term that describes the many
proteins found in cereal grains such as wheat,
rye, and barley. Gluten gives chewy texture to
food and is an attribute most people love in
their favorite foods like pizza, pasta, muffins
    and beer.

3
How Gluten Affect?
  • When you eat gluten-containing foods, your body
breaks down the protein into smaller pieces.
Gluten can cause damage to the lining of your
small intestine if you have celiac disease or
non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). This damage
can lead to nutrient deficiencies because the
small intestine can't absorb nutrients properly.

4
Gluten Disorders
  • Gluten disorders are a group of conditions that
occur when you have an immune response to gluten,
a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. Gluten
can damage the lining of your small intestine,
which can make it difficult for nutrients to get
absorbed into your bloodstream. There are five
major illnesses associated with Gluten related
    disorders are
  • Celiac Disease
  • Non-celiac Gluten Sensitivity
  • Wheat Allergy
  • Gluten Ataxia
  • Dermatitis Herpetiformis

5
Symptoms of Gluten Disorders
  • If you're concerned about how much gluten is in
your food or how it affects you, here are five
    common signs of Gluten Disorders
  • 1) Bloating or gas after eating.
  • 2) Abdominal pain or swelling after eating.
  • 3) Diarrhea or constipation after eating.
  • 4) Weight loss without trying (even if you're not
    dieting).
  • 5) Excessive fatigue or weakness that doesn't go
    away with rest

6
How can you avoid these diseases?
  • 1. Avoiding gluten is not as hard as you think.
  • 2. The best way to avoid gluten is to read food
labels and avoid foods that contain gluten.
  • 3. You should always check the ingredients on the
food label before purchasing any product you plan
    to eat or drink.
  • 4. Because it is difficult to diagnose gluten
sensitivity, you can follow a simple exercise to
know whether you have gluten sensitivity.
  • 5. Don't eat processed foods such as vegetable
chips, snack bars, soups and dried products often
contain gluten and its derivatives that may
affect your health in excess quantities.

7
  • 6. Talk to your doctor about whether you should
follow a gluten-free diet if you have been
diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or
    other conditions associated with gluten.
  • 7. Reduce stress in your life by taking time for
    yourself each day
  • 8. . Get enough sleep each night

8
Conclusion
  • Gluten and gluten-free diets can be overwhelming,
but there are steps you can take to navigate them
as easily as possible. Do your research, educate
yourself, and always consult with your doctor
before starting a new diet. If you are interested
