What is Bar Grating?
  • Bar grating is a type of metal plank grating with
a series of bearing bars and crossbars welded or
press-locked together. The bearing bars are the
main load-bearing bars that run in the same
direction as the span. The crossbars are
connectors made from a strip of rolled bars that
extend across or through the bearing bars for
job-specific applications, like forming panels or
    creating ladder rungs.

3
  • The spacing of the crossbars and their height
determine what kind of shape you can make with
your bar grating panel this also determines its
performance in different applications. If you
want to create a common walkway surface, you will
have more space between your crossbars and more
room for customers to walk through without
    tripping.

4
What is Bar Grating Used For?
  • Bar grating is commonly used for steps, ladders,
and handrails. It consists of a series of
parallel, close-set bars joined together by
crossbars or crimped bars. It is available in
aluminum and steel alloys with smooth or serrated
surfaces. The most common materials are iron,
steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Other
materials include copper, brass, bronze, and
precious alloys such as gold and silver.

5
How is Bar Grating Manufactured?
  • Bar grating is a term that generally refers to
any metal products in the shape of bars with
openings between them. The bars can be made from
aluminum or steel, and the openings can come in a
variety of sizes. It is manufactured by
assembling a series of equally spaced parallel
bearing bars and then joining them at various
intervals to perpendicularly cross members to
form a load-bearing panel. It's commonly used in
manufacturing plants as well as outdoor sites
that require drainages, such as marinas and
walkways. The bars are made from varied
    applications like carbon steel, aluminum,
stainless steel, nickel alloys, and more.

6
Why Do I Need Bar Grating?
  • Your bar grating may be the one thing that sets
you apart from your neighbors. It's a statement
of pride, branding you as the proud owner of a
unique property. Your choice of materials should
reflect that pride and have the ability to endure
any weather conditions throughout time. Yet it
doesn't have to break the bank. Unlike other
surface materials, it is lightweight and
corrosion-resistant, which keeps it from rusting
or corroding. These properties make it well
suited for outdoor applications like patios,
porches, and walkways. When choosing grating for
your project, consider its weight so that the
structure is not too fragile or heavy for its
supports. Most importantly, though, choose one
    that fits your design aesthetic.
