Title: How does a nitrogen generator work?

1
How does a nitrogen generator work?
2
  • A Nitrogen generator manufacturer does not
produce nitrogen when it creates nitrogen gas.
Instead, any extra molecules like oxygen, carbon
dioxide, or water (moisture) are removed from the
gas inside the generator, which purifies the
nitrogen gas in the air (around 78 of the air is
nitrogen). Nitrogen gas can be examined after
being removed from these additional substances.
  • Nitrogen compressor technology, which supplies
air to a nitrogen generator system to purify,
makes this separation process possible for either
a membrane and other filters or a Pressure Swing
Adsorption (PSA) system and filters. This shows
that a Nitrogen generator manufacturers powered
by a compressor is a stand-alone option for
laboratories. -used the phrase integrated later
in this essay, a suitable term to characterize
    the product's compressors.

  • At Trident Pneumatics, we recognize the need to
have a steady, dependable gas supply available
around the clock. In addition, since LC-MS
instruments require the highest levels of purity
and performance, we closely collaborate with
global experts in compressor technology to
    provide best-in-class compressor efficiency.
  • Through a membrane nitrogen generator, which
compresses the air while passing it through a
membrane made of hollow fibres with pores just
small enough to keep nitrogen from being pushed
through with oxygen, nitrogen gas can be
separated from the air using an internal
compressor. As a result, the device is left with
a residue of high-purity nitrogen gas that is
    prepared for supply.
  • Before nitrogen gas reaches the membrane, more
    sophisticated nitrogen generators include many
filtration steps to eliminate dust or moisture.
The PSA technique is a method that uses a
    nitrogen compressor.  Nitrogen gas generator
systems draws nitrogen gas from atmospheric air
using an air compressor like a membrane nitrogen
generator. However, a PSA nitrogen generator then
circulates nitrogen gas down a Carbon Molecular
Sieve (CMS) column, whose surface is covered in
densely packed carbon granules, allowing only
oxygen molecules to bind to the carbon material.
Instead, the nitrogen gas molecules are filtered
    by passing through the CMS.

4
  • Two CMS columns are needed for a PSA nitrogen
generator, one of which must be depressurized
while the other pushes pressured air through the
sieve. Before the air enters the CMS, dust and
moisture are removed using a multistage
pre-filtration process that is part of PSA
    nitrogen generators. Regular compressor
maintenance is strongly advised for systems that
use nitrogen compressors. To maintain output
purity and integrity, extend the generator's
life, and ultimately safeguard a lab's
    investment, a compressor needs preventative
maintenance once a year. To give your lab a quick
response time in the uncommon case of a product
    issue, Peak Scientific offers industry-leading
gas generator service plans for all Peak
    Scientific gas generators. With Trident
Pneumatics spread out over the globe, you can be
confident that help is always nearby and that the
uptime of your gas generator is at its highest
    level.

5
  • The supply of nitrogen gas for laboratories has
    dramatically benefited from compressor-based
    generators. Nitrogen compressor-based generators
offer labs access to nitrogen gas at a constant
purity because membrane and PSA technologies are
incorporated into a single generator system.
