  • The IELTS test is conducted by either the British
    Council, IDP IELTS Australia or the University of
    Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate. It is an
    English language test that assesses the language
    skills of people who want to study or work in an
    English-speaking environment. IELTS is the
    worlds most popular high-stakes English test.
    Over 3 million tests were taken last year.
  • The IELTS test has four components Listening,
    Reading, Writing and Speaking. All four
    components are taken on the same day, one after
    the other. The Speaking component may be taken on
    a different day, up to a week before or after the
    other three components.

  • IELTS classes in Sri Lanka are designed to assess
    the language ability of people who want to study
    or work where English is used as the language of
    communication. IELTS is recognised and accepted
    by over 10,000 organizations, including
    universities, employers, professional bodies,
    immigration authorities and other government
    agencies. In Sri Lanka, IELTS is accepted by the
    Sri Lanka Medical Council, the Sri Lanka Dental
    Council, the Sri Lanka Nurses and Midwives
    Council and many other professional bodies.
  • IELTS is a paper-based test. The test has four
    parts Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
    The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

  • The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are
    done in one sitting. The Speaking test may be on
    the same day or up to seven days before or after
    the other tests.
  • Listening
  • The Listening test is 30 minutes long (plus 10
    minutes transfer time) and has four sections.
  • Reading
  • The Reading test is 60 minutes long and has
    three sections.

  • The Writing test is 60 minutes long and has two
    sections.
  • Speaking
  • The Speaking test is 15 minutes long and is
    conducted by a trained IELTS examiner.
