How to Clean Your Washing Machine
A washing machine is a technology-driven tool
that is responsible for the deep cleansing of
clothes. Flawless clothes are appealing to the
eye and result in personality development.
However, it is imperative to take care of your
washing machine, just as the machine takes care
of your clothes.
Why Clean Your Washing Machine?
2
How Often To Clean Your Washing Machine?
Regular cleansing of washing machines is
essential for smooth functioning. The first
aspect to consider is the smell. Over time, the
smell of fresh laundry slightly reduces once one
opens the washing machine door. This might be
due to the bacteria accumulated after every wash.
Secondly, dirt accumulates after every wash
cycle. If that dirt is not dealt with, the
washing machine will not perform at its best,
putting one at a disadvantage. Moisture also
prevails in the detergent powder, which creates
a thin layer that attracts bacteria. These
bacteria function in a way that is unfavorable
for the machine. Research has also shown that if
we dont wash our washing machines frequently,
there would be a burden on the power.
Consequently, high electricity bills would knock
on our doors!
A general law that applies here is that the more
the usage, the more frequent the cleansing. As
someone who runs a business out of it, bi-weekly
or weekly cleansing is a must, whereas for
working professionals, deep cleansing once a
month is not a bad deal. How Do You Clean The
Washing Machine? Now that we have learned about
the importance of cleansing, we must be familiar
with the methodology. To start the cleaning
process, household items must be ready, i.e., a
spray bottle, vinegar, baking soda, and a
microfiber cleaning cloth. A fragile toothbrush
would also be a plus point for narrow
spaces. Firstly, the drain needs to be cleaned.
The first step is disconnecting the drain
from the washing machine. Once done, place it in
an empty tub and soak it in vinegar. Being a
natural disinfectant, vinegar would work best to
remove the mildew. Once adequately washed, its
time to wipe away the residue with a piece of
unwanted cloth. This is to be followed by
cleansing the filter, and the location of the
filter depends upon the make and model. Once the
two key elements are dealt with, its time to
wash the inside of the washing machine, i.e.,
the drum upon which clothes are placed. Firstly,
add vinegar to the spray bottle and spray down
to every place. When finished, clean everything
with a microfiber cloth. This task takes its
end. Next, we have the seals around the door,
where mildew, hair, and cotton yarn is common.
This is an intelligent way to clean and a super
quick process, hardly taking half an hour or so.
However, running the washing machine on a
complete cycle and then waiting for an hour would
be your best bet for a thorough
cleansing. Moreover In the future, attempt to
leave the door open by about an inch in between
loads of laundry to promote greater airflow,
which will inhibit the growth of bacteria by
allowing the interior of the washing machine to
dry out.
