About This Presentation
Title:

Become Canadian With Proof Of Citizenship.

Description:

If you have at least one Canadian parent born abroad, you may already be eligible for Canadian citizenship. Once you are eligible for citizenship, you no longer need to go through the normal application process. This includes requirements such as physical presence requirements as a permanent resident, knowledge tests and attendance at citizenship ceremonies. Instead, ask for proof of citizenship, also known as a certificate of citizenship. Unless you were born as a foreign diplomat, you may already be a Canadian citizen if you were born in Canada. If you were born abroad, you may already be Canadian if at least one of your parents was a first-generation Canadian at birth. To be considered a first-generation Canadian, parents must have been born in Canada or have obtained citizenship through an application process. If your grandfather was first-generation Canada and your father obtained citizenship by descent, he is not eligible to take the citizenship test . – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Canadian Citizenship
  • You may be able to get Canadian citizenship just
by applying for proof of citizenship.
  • If you have at least one Canadian parent born
abroad, you may already be eligible for Canadian
    citizenship.
  • Once you are eligible for citizenship, you no
longer need to go through the normal application
process. This includes requirements such as
physical presence requirements as a permanent
resident, knowledge tests and attendance at
    citizenship ceremonies.
  • Instead, ask for proof of citizenship, also known
    as a certificate of citizenship.

Proof of Citizenship Application Process
  • To apply for proof of citizenship, you will need
to download the application package available on
the IRCC website. When you were born, your
biological or legal father must certify that you
are a Canadian citizen. IRCC accepts evidence
such as a parent's birth certificate, Canadian
    citizenship card or citizenship certificate.
  • Once IRCC confirms that the submitted application
has been completed, it will send an
acknowledgment of receipt, called an AOR. If your
application is approved, IRCC will send you a
    Certificate of Canadian Citizenship.

5
  • You can check the status of your application
online on the IRCC website. Complex files may
take longer to process. IRCC offers expedited
processing options for those who need to get
health care, a Social Security number, start a
job, or travel to and from Canada in an
    emergency.
  • A Canadian immigration lawyer can help you with
this process. An experienced immigration attorney
can double-check that you meet all eligibility
criteria and help you prove your Canadian
    citizenship right away.
