today in the Flooring Department. Because it is a
thicker product, luxury vinyl feels somewhat
softer underfoot and has better sound-blocking
properties than standard vinyl flooring. This is
especially true of luxury vinyl with cork or foam
underlayment layers built into the product. While
luxury vinyl flooring is incredibly durable, it's
not completely impervious to damage. It can
scratch or scuff, especially with heavy objects
such as appliances. On the positive side, luxury
vinyl flooring is more scratch-resistant than
hardwood, and, with LVP, you can replace pieces
if they get scratched.08-Mar-2018 Compared to
laminate, vinyl flooring is a clear winner when
considering moisture exposure. Vinyl flooring is
made entirely from plastic which gives it
superior moisture resistance. Even extended
exposure to splashes and spills won't damage its
surface. The rule of thumb is to use 4mm to 6mm
thickness in heavily used areas of the house and
4mm and below for areas like the bedroom. While
LVT is extremely durable, it isn't totally
indestructible. Luxury vinyl flooring can dent
and even scratch or scuff, especially from heavy
appliances, furniture, or other weighty objects.
Just because it's resistant to something doesn't
mean it's impervious to it. You can use almost

steam mop. The steam that comes out of a steam
mop can be detrimental to your luxury vinyl
floor. The heat, steam and moisture can penetrate
into the LVT flooring tiles and cause

are very low in VOCs and off gassing but they do
have the problem of semi-VOCs - the plasticizers.
Most of it is phthalate-free now - though
phthalates were replaced with alternate
plasticizers. The most common plasticizer used
now is DOTP. For durability, ceramic and
porcelain tile flooring is better. For ease of
maintenance and comfort, LVT flooring wins. For
easy installation and lower labor costs, LVT is
the clear winner
