Material
Brass is a copper and zinc alloy metal with a
copper content of 57 to 63 and a zinc content
of 35 to 40. Sometimes lead is all that is
required. Bronze, on the other hand, is composed
of 80 percent -88 percent copper and 10 percent
-12 percent tin. Other metals such as aluminium,
nickel, manganese, lead... and nonmetals such as
phosphorus, arsenic, and silicon are also added
to bronze. The various material combinations add
different properties to the valves.

Cost
The cost issue is critical in this comparison
because not all components are the same price.
When comparing brass and bronze, brass is 3-4
times less expensive. This is due to the lower
cost of zinc, which makes brass more affordable.
Furthermore, the smooth surface of brass and its
machinability reduce finishing costs during valve
manufacturing. Bronze components, on the other
hand, are expensive... and necessitate extra
polish for their rough exterior polishing,

Brass and bronze valves both perform well in high
temperatures. Brass has a melting point of 1710oF
(930oC) and bronze has a melting point of 1590oF.
(865oC). As a result, brass can withstand
slightly higher temperatures than bronze. Brass,
on the other hand, is more efficient at high
temperatures but less so at low temperatures.
