2Learning AED with Online AED Training Course
As per American Heart Association, one out of
every 7.4 people in the United States dies due to
sudden cardiac arrest. On the other hand,
according to the National Safety Council,
research shows that increased access to AED can
save as many as 40000 lives per year.
Most of the states and the federal government
have mandated AEDs in public buildings, private
companies as well as shopping malls. Do you
wonder why AED is that important? Then you are
not alone. AEDs are lifesaving devices that are
available commonly nowadays not just for
healthcare providers but others as well.
3What is an AED and Why Is It Essential to Learn
Using It?
AED, the acronym for Automated External
Defibrillator is a first aid medical equipment
that is used on patients who experience cardiac
arrest. It is a portable life-saving device
that is used for measuring the activities,
analyzing the heart rhythm, and at times
delivering an electrical shock or defibrillation
to re-establishing the effective rhythm of the
heart and save lives simultaneously.
If abnormal heart rhythm is detected, the device
delivers an electric shock to the heart for
restoring the normal rhythm. You can find
different types of AEDs today available at
different prices depending on the brands. You can
take Online AED Training with certified
instructors. There are programs that aid in the
provision of AED Training Online which will lead
you to get Online AED Certification.
4Operating an AED
The heart also contracts just like other muscles
by electrical stimulation. When the electrical
stimulation gets disorganized, the begins to
contract randomly. Understanding the in and out
of cardiac arrest is the first step to deciding
whether you need to give an AED or not. In case
you see a cardiac arrest victim and you think
that they may need an AED, then you need to do
the following things
Check if the victim is unconscious. If there is
no pulse and the victim isnt breathing, you must
call for emergency medical help. Ask other people
present there to call 911 while the other
prepares the AED. If you are alone then make sure
to call 911 or emergency medical services first
to make sure help is on the way.
Turn the AED device on. The AED will provide you
step by step commands to explain the method of
using the device and place the adhesive electrode
pads on the chest
of the victim. These pads will let the device
examine the electrical output from the heart and
determine whether the victim is in a shocking
rhythm either ventricular fibrillation or
ventricular tachycardia.
5Deliver the shock. When you put the pad
electrodes in place, the AED automatically
measures the heart rhythm of the victim and
determines if a shock is required. If required
the machine will tell you to stand back and push
the shock button for delivering the
defibrillation shock. The device is programmed
not to deliver a shock if it is not required.
Start CPR. CPR is an essential emergency
procedure that makes use of chest compressions.
The AED will also guide you for CPR. You need to
repeat the process as needed until the medical
emergency services team takes over.
You can join Online AED CPR Certification Courses
to get the right knowledge about the process. A
good AED Training Course will help you stay
prepared for any emergency situation where
someone might need your help in case of sudden
cardiac arrest.
