2What is Servo Motor ?
- A servo motor is a rotary actuator or linear
actuator that allows for precise control of
angular or linear position, velocity and
acceleration. It consists of a suitable motor
coupled to a sensor for position feedback. - A servo motor is basically DC motor enriched
with decoder and driver to control its motions
for a particular angle. Decoder passes the
instructions to driver to control the motor speed
or motion and driver act accordingly. - As servo motor could not manage its speed by
itself the servo gearbox came into picture. Servo
motors are used in applications where the motor
needs to be stopped at a particular angle or
position to reach desired output. - The best example for this is for ceiling fan DC
motors are used where they dont want to stop it
on particular angle whereas the bottle filling
application uses servo motor to manage or stop
its motion for a particular angle.

3Why Servo Gearbox ??
- The servo motors are consist of encoder and
driver to control its speed and motion. Servo
gearbox is used to retrieve the accurate or high
precision output from the application. Sometimes
application needs to stop at particular angle
very accurately servo gearbox controls that
accuracy in application with its mesh. The meshes
stops the motor and reduce the backlash rate to
its minimum level so that the accuracy can be
achieved. - In short servo gearbox takes the input from motor
and transmits the precisely calculated output to
the application. Resulting the accuracy in

nothing but the combination of different gear
trains. - The most important advantage of using a gearbox
in a servo system is the effect it has on the
inertia of the load. The load inertia, which is
reflected on the motor, is reduced by the square
of the gear ratio. Therefore, even a relatively
small gear reduction can have a significant
effect on the inertia ratio. -
4Servo Planetary Gearbox
- Servo planetary gearbox also known as inline or
epicyclic gear. Planetary gear is a combination
of two gears mounted on each other to revolve
centre of one gear around the centre of other. It
is called planetary because of its mechanism. The
sun gear rotates to and because of its rotation
other gears gets the motion and starts rotating.
The sun gear passes the power to planetary gears
which also rotates and passes the power to each
