Plumbing Guide 7 Ways To Unclog A Bathtub

2
1. Equip with tools required at first
  • To eliminate the blockage that is causing your
    bathtub to drain,
  • you'll require all of the following equipment
  • A bucket or cup (for making nails with water)
  • A screwdriver
  • Rubber gloves
  • Old towels or rags
  • A cup plunger
  • We also recommend putting one of these things
    before you begin
  • Protective eyewear
  • Rubber boots
  • A plastic apron or some other piece of clothing

3
2. Get rid of stagnant water.
  • If you find any water standing in your tub,
    flush it before beginning.
  • Use cups or a bucket to drain the water, then
pour it down the drain next to it.

4
3. Take out stopper and strainer.
  • Most bathtub drains come with stoppers or
strainers that stop hair and other items from
    flowing down the drain.
  • To clear the drains of your bathtub, it is
important to get these obstructions from the way.
  • Remove the stopper yourself however, most
strainers will be anchored to the drainage hole
    by just one screw.
  • Remove this screw to take the filter away from
    the drain.

5
4. Include hot water in the bath
  • If the tub isn't draining after you've removed
the filter, your drain has probably been blocked.
  • Before you begin, the process of unblocking your
tub will require you to use the faucet to pour
some inches of hot water into the tub.
  • It is crucial to add enough water to completely
submerge the plunger's cap when you put it into
    the drain.
  • The water will cause the suction and the
pressure required to get rid of the blockage of
    your bathtub.

6
5. Check for debris expulsion.
  • After 10 or 15 minutes of pumping, you'll
rupture the seal you've created around the drain
    by removing the plunger.
  • If you can clear the blockage, you'll see filthy
water or debris emerging from the drain when you
    remove the plunger.
  • This is because of the force produced by the
plunger inside the cup. The plunger is designed
to move the blockage inside your tub drain until
it reaches the surface and away from your drain.
  • Instead of pushing it down to break it up into
pieces (which is how toilet plungers function).

7
6. Use a plunger for the drain
  • These plungers, also known as cup-style
    plungers, are "conventional" plungers you
envision when you think of plungers.
  • The plunger's head plunger in the cup, then
places it over the drain, creating an extended
    seal.
  • Make sure the plunger is at an angle of 90
    degrees parallel with the drain.
  • Use the handle to push the plunger's head
downwards and then push it inward until it
    "resets" to its original shape.
  • Repeat this process swiftly and continuously for
around ten pumps or approximately 30 minutes.

8
7. Repeat the process several times
  • After you've broken the seal and allowed the
debris to fall away, The water in the tub will
start draining normally if it doesn't, then
there's a blockage that wasn't cleared to this
    point.
  • You can try this method several times until
you've noticed some results. If you've tried this
method several times and still can't eliminate
the blockage, then it's the right time to change
    methods.
  • This technique can remove any obstructions to
your bathtub. If plungers do not work, it is
possible to try baking soda or get into the drain
with the plunger's claw or a tool.
  • It could be more than a simple blockage if you
    cannot solve the issue.
