  government registration of small enterprises

• Here are some benefits of getting a Udyam
  certificate as a traders
• Easy availability of Tenders
• The traders who are registered under MSMEs can
  get the government tenders without security bid
  money. The MSMEs get preferences in getting the
  government tenders and therefore, the traders can
  easily get the government bids/ tenders.
• Subsidy on various taxes
• The traders who are registered under MSMEs can
  get subsidies on various taxes. The MSMEs get the
  threshold for exemption from taxes and can get
  the benefit of subsidy under various schemes.

• Collateral-free loans
• The MSME traders can get easy credit on working
  capital/ term loans extended by eligible lending
  institutions. The traders can get the guarantee
  covers for the loans which are not covered by
  collateral/ mortgage.
• Market support
• The government provides market support to the
  MSMEs by providing a refund/ rebate on the
  registration fees of the barcode. The government
  intends to encourage MSME traders entrepreneurs
  to implement innovative tools in their business.

• Access to GeM
• The MSME traders get direct access to GeM which
  is a wide online marketplace for the procurement
  of goods services. The Udyam portal is
  integrated with GeM and therefore, the MSME
  trades can get direct access to the online
  marketplace for buying/ selling their products/
  services on GeM.
• Intellectual Property Rights
• The government provides reimbursement on the
  registration fees of the intellectual property
  elements such as trademark, patent, etc. The MSME
  traders can avail these benefits to further
  expand their business and earn recognition and
  protect their Intellectual property rights.

• The government provides technology quality
  up-gradation support by providing subsidies on
  adopting Energy Efficient Technologies to
  encourage them to use environmentally friendly
  technologies.
• Subsidy on Capital requirements
• The MSMEs can avail 15 subsidy on capital for
  their daily cash requirements/ working capital.
  The MSMEs can get term loans from the eligible
  Public Lending Institutions for the capital
  requirements.
• Credit at lower interest rates
• The MSME traders can get the credit at lower
  interest rates from the eligible Primary Sector
  Lending institutions.

Government decision to give the MSME status

• The government removed the traders from the MSME
  category in the year 2017. This forced the small
  retailers/ wholesalers to borrow loans at higher
  rates or from informal financial resources. Since
  the small traders were not part of the MSMEs the
  Banks did not grant them the loans under Priority
  Sector Lending and therefore they could not get
  the loans easily from the banks. The traders also
  faced difficulty in getting the registration on
  GeM because they did not have the MSME status.

Government decision to give the MSME status

• Therefore, the Ministry of Micro, Small, and
  Medium enterprises announced that the retail and
  wholesale trade would be classified as MSMEs. The
  revised guidelines for including the traders
  under the ambit of MSMEs will benefit 2.5 crore
  retail wholesale traders. Small traders can now
  get capital subsidies for their business
  requirements.

Udyam Registration Certificate

• The Udyam Registration Certificate is the
  certificate given to the Micro, Small, and Medium
  Enterprises after getting the Udyam registration
  which includes the unique identification number
  known as UAM (Udyog Aadhar Memorandum). This
  certificate can be used to apply for various
  benefits provided by the government for the MSMEs.
