3ABOUT UNIVERSITY
The Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI),
founded in 1889, is one of the region's leading
research institutes devoted to livestock research
and development. The institution, which has about
275 academic members, is primarily responsible
for research, teaching, consulting, and
technology transfer. With its lengthy scientific
history, the institution has always had a certain
reputation, a tradition of its own. The
institution provides excellent post-graduate
education to students from all across the nation
as well as from outside. Today, the institution,
with its deemed university status, provides
positively to the success of human resources in
the field of veterinary sciences with the
training and education for the problems of the
new century. Moreover, it confers master's and
doctorate degrees in over 20 areas of veterinary
and animal sciences, livestock products
technology, fundamental sciences, and extension
education. The institute also offers diploma
courses in veterinary, animal reproduction,
medicine and surgery, zoo and wild animal health
care and management, etc.

5INFRASTRUCTURE
Hostel The university campus has a hostel to
meet the accommodation demands of students.
Besides, hostel living is among the most
significant parts of college life, serving as the
main residence for the majority of the students.
Hence, the university takes care to build hostels
in such a way that they optimize comfort, give
off a homey feel, and encourage
efficiency. Library The National Library of
Veterinary Sciences at IVRI has about 250,000
highly specialised reading materials in the form
of publications, periodicals, and so on. Every
year, the library subscribes to about 125
international publications and approximately 103
Indian periodicals. For the digitization of
library activities, the university is utilising
the KOHA V.3.8 software. Throughout all operating
hours, the library offers E-mail and Internet
access to the public via 24 terminals. The
library has three reading rooms with AC. At a
small fee, photocopies are also accessible at the
library.
6INFRASTRUCTURE
Sports The institute offers its students the
best sports facilities. It has several facilities
for outdoor games such as cricket, lawn tennis,
basketball, athletics, football, tennis and
various indoor sports for its students such as
chess. It also organizes co-curricular events,
varying from athletics to socio-cultural events.
Besides, in the beginning, every university
performs fundraising of Rs 200 from each student
to improve sports facilities. This plays a
significant role in the learners' daily lives as
well as in the creation of their non-academic
talents. Canteen The university has an
on-campus cafeteria that provides fresh and
healthy foods. Hence, these eateries are
available there for the staff and the students to
use. Medical Aid The health of the learners is
overseen by competent medical professionals. The
Institute dispensary is situated on campus. The
medical officers live on the Institute's campus
and are accessible 24x7. Hence, students may get
medical care at the University's pharmacy.
7INFRASTRUCTURE
- Computer Labs The Institute includes a
well-developed Computer Center with sufficient
capabilities for students to conduct numerical
analysis produced by thesis research work, among
other things. The Centre provides Data Processing
and Computer Application training to P.G.
students. There is also access to the Internet,
intranet, and e-mail. - Scholarship Scholarships are available to
applicants who are accepted to M.V.Sc./Ph.D.
degree programmes via a competitive admission
test. The scholarships are given only on the
basis of merit. The number of scholarships given
to students observes - Rs. 7,560/- monthly for two years, as well as a
dependent incentive of Rs. 6,000/- each year for
the first two years of the Master's Degree
programme. - Lastly, Rs. 13,125/- monthly for three years,
plus a dependent stipend of Rs. 10,000/- yearly
for the PhD research programme.
8COURSES OFFERED
- The IVRI, Bareilly offers a diverse variety of
undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral
programmes. For entry to a college, applicants
must take and pass a universitys entrance exam.
Applicants must also participate in the relevant
exam counselling. On the contrary, the period of
the courses differs depending on the course.
Admission to all courses is dependent on an
entrance exam and also merit-based. However, the
length of each course, though, differs based on

Hence, any candidate can apply and selection is
on a merit basis. - To enrol in an undergraduate course such as
B.V.Sc, a candidate must pass 102. - Postgraduate course M.V.Sc. is also there in the
university and candidates must have a graduation
degree in the relevant field with at least 60.
However, a candidate must take the test conducted
by ICAR. - The university offers PhD courses. A candidate
must have B.V.Sc. AH with a Masters Degree in
a relevant field. Besides, an applicant must also
take an entrance test.
