ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Earlier known as Govind Guru Tribal University
(GGTU) is a public state university. The
university is almost 3 decades old and is
presently headed by chancellor Draupadi Murmu and
VC Mukul Narayan Deo. The university is located
on the urban patch of Hazaribagh. Moreover, the
university has approval from UGC. The university
also prides itself on a good alumni base.
Therefore notable students of the university
include names like Bidhu Jha, Subodha Kumar, and
B.S. Shay among many others.

HISTORY
Govind Guru Tribal University was established in
the year 1992 in Bihar by minister Lalu Prasad
Yadav. From 1992 to 2000 the university was under
the Bihar Governments jurisdiction. However, in
2000 a new state Jharkhand was carved out of
Bihar which led to the formation of the
university. The university was established in
Hazaribagh. It was the people of Hazaribagh who
felt the need for a University. The Ranchi
University is more than 100 km away therefore the
need was real. Thus in 1990, the Bihar State
Assembly approved the bill of setting up a
university at Hazirabh.

RANKING
Various ranking factors and parameters are at
play while ranking a college some of the most
important parameters are. The infrastructure o
the college, student to faculty ratio, faculty
knowledge base, and foreign and national students
ratio. Likewise, the university has evaluation by
NIRF. Moreover, the rank of the university as per
Edu rank is 6th among 20 universities in
Jharkhand.

CAMPUS
The campus of the university is located at the
urban patch of Haazari Bagh. Earlier which was a
part of Bihar. The campus is spread over a decent
landmass area. The campus houses facilities like
academic blocks, non-academic buildings, a
library, sports arenas, etc. Moreover, the campus
is green hygienic, and clean. The campus is at a
distance of 100 KM from Ranchi the capital of
Jharkhand. Likewise, the campus is in easy
reachable distance to the city as it is in the
city. The nearest functional airport is the Birsa
Munda Airport at Ranchi. Moreover, the nearest
railway station is Hazari Bagh Junction which is
7 KM away from the university.

COURSES OFFERED

• The university offers courses through its own
  campus and also from its colleges. The courses
  are available at the UG and PG levels.
  Additionally, vocational courses are also
  available at the university and its colleges. The
  courses are available in the streams of
  Humanities and Social Science, Science,
  Accounting and Commerce, Teaching and Education,
  Law, Arts, Design, and Medicine and Health
  Science. Likewise, popular courses available at
  the university are M.COm, M.Sc, M.A., B.Com, B.A,
  B.Sc, B.tech, and other courses. It also features
  professional courses like MBA, MCA, and M.Ed.

• PLACEMENTS
• The university has a decent placement cell that
  invites companies during the placement season.
  Moreover, students are also placed through
  off-campus placements drive. Likewise, the
  placement stats of the year 18-20 reveal students
  in engineering courses received the highest
  package of 3.5 Lac, wherein BBA scored 2.6 Lac
  and courses like M.Sc and UG diploma scored 3.3
  and 3.6 Lac respectively.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Library The central library of the university has
scores of print books, journals, periodicals, and
other sorts of documents available. The library
uses Software and RFID facilities for tagging.
Moreover, the library has E-resources and
INFLIBNET services available as well for the
students. The library also has reading spaces
available. Laboratories The labs of the
university houses required sophisticated
equipment. The labs are well managed and
maintained. Furthermore, the labs are annually
examined and repaired by AMC contractors.
Likewise, each lab operates separately under each
department headed by the HOD.

• The university has ample vast spaces for sports.
  Therefore students participate in sports and
  sporting events and practice from time to time at
  the available infrastructure. Sports facilities
  like an indoor stadium, outdoor grounds are
  available. Moreover, the university also houses a
  GYM facility so that students can keep active
• Healthcare
• The university has an on-campus OPD center.
  Additionally, the OPD center is lead by a Medical
  Officer. Likewise, a Physiotherapy department is
  also available. An ambulance is also available.

• The university has Buses and Vehicles to carry
  students and staff from and to the university.
  Moreover, ample parking space is also available.
