• HBSU happens to be the first cluster university
  of Maharashtra.
• Also, the University laid down its foundation in
  2019 under Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan
  (RUSA) program of Government of India.

  prestigious institutions namely, Institute of

• The Institute of Science (I.Sc.), Mumbai
• This college was initially known as, Royal
  Institute of Science.
• Also, it was established in 1920 under the Royal
  Charter.
• Additionally, it happens to be a premier
  institute for teaching and research. UGC has
  declared it as a centre with potential
  excellence.
• Moreover, it was accredited Grade A by NAAC in
  2014 and hence, it is one of the leading colleges
  of the Dr. Homi Bhabha State University.
• The institute has 9 departments.

• The Elphinstone College
• It laid down its foundation in 1935 under the
  Bombay Native Education (Trust).
• The college separated from high school in 1856.
• Therefore, the college was established prior to
  University of Mumbai.
• Also, the building of the college is a Grade 1
  heritage structure because of its classic Gothic
  carvings and beautiful architecture.
• It is also accredited Grade A by NAAC.

• The Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics
• The colleges inception took place on October 22,
  1913 in a borrowed space of Elphinstone College
  and it was then known as, Government College of
  Commerce.
• Also, in order to acknowledge the efforts of then
  Governor, Lord Sydenham, the college renamed
  after him.
• Consequently, the college shifted to a permanent
  campus in 1955.
• Additionally, it happens to be the first
  institution proliferating commerce education in
  the Asian countries.

  in 2016 by Consumer Survey Report.

• It is a premier teachers training institute in

  suggestions by the Woods Dispatch (1854).

  the Mumbai University, it started as B.T. degree
  granting institute.

• HBSU happens to be the first cluster university
