ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Pt Ravishankar Shukla University sits in the
Rice Bowl of India Chhattisgarh. Established
in 1964, PRSU is an autonomous not-for-profit
state-owned higher education institution. As a
matter of fact, National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC) gave PRSU an overall
highest grade A. Moreover, Ravishankar
University -  Raipur is one of the largest and
oldest institutions of higher education in the
state. Further, PRSU aims to cater to all the
needs of poor youth of the state, and among the
neighbourhood border states. As a matter of fact,
PRSU aims to provide quality higher education to
the tribal youths of Chhattisgarh. Moreover, it
focuses to create world-class human resources
with excellent skills. However, the future goal
of Pt Ravishankar Shukla University is to convert
the college into a centre of excellence for
higher education and a knowledge resource

HISTORY
As the name suggests, PRSU was named before the
first Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. As a
matter of fact, he was a leader of the Indian
National Congress (INC), and an activist of the
Indian independence movement. Moreover, the state
government of Madhya Pradesh launched PRSU as a
teaching-cum-affiliating university on 1st May
1964. But, the real administrative functioning
started a month after its launch, 1st June
1964. Initially, PRSU was launched with 46
affiliated colleges, and 5 university teaching
departments (UTDs). Likewise, only 34,000
students enrolled at the University. On 2nd July
1965, the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
inaugurated the postgraduate department. To
clarify, the PG department had only 5 subjects of
specialisation.

COURSES OFFERED

• Bachelors Courses
• PRSU has multiple choices of disciplines for
  admission to undergraduate courses. Further,
  students can enrol on a merit basis.
• Masters Courses
• Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU) offers
  PG courses across 35 disciplines. Moreover, the
  students enrolling in the Schools of Studies in
  postgraduate classes must appear for the entrance
  test. As a result, the candidate can confirm the
  admission on the merit Based results of the
  entrance test.
• PhD./M.Phil Courses
• Ravishankar University, Raipur offers MPhil
  across 21 categories. As a result, the students
  have wide choices of subjects. In fact, PRSU
  organises an entrance examination for admission

INFRASTRUCTURE
University Coaching Centre PRSU has a coaching
centre at the campus which is sanctioned by UGC.
To clarify, the college offers coaching
facilities for three categories. Moreover, the
first category is remedial coaching. In other
words, the coaching centre improves the academic
skills and linguistic proficiency of students.
Hostel Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University has
nine hostels for different purposes. Moreover,
there is a separate hostel for girls and boys. To
clarify, PRSU has the facility of 3 men hostels,
namely, Gandhi, Azad, and Power Grid hostel.

Sundarlal Sharma Library The library, as a matter
of fact, is named after Pandit Sundarlal Sharma.
Moreover, he was a legendary freedom fighter and
social reformer. Further, the library houses a
four-storied independent building. In addition to
this, the seating capacity is 320. However, there
are two independent reading halls. Health
Centre The health centre at Pt. Ravishankar
Shukla University has well-equipped Pathology
labs. Further, the students, faculty, and even
non-teaching staff can avail of the medical
treatment free of cost through an outpatient
department. Moreover, a full-time Medical Officer
and a part-time lady-doctor run the
centre. Specialised Cells PRSU has several
specialised cells, namely, placement cell,
grievance cell, and cell against harassment. In
other words, all these cells perform diverse
functions. To clarify, the placement cell
organises an on-campus placement fair for the
recruitment of students. Besides that, it trains
the students in soft skills, personality
development, and resume building. Likewise, the
grievance cell addresses the specific grievances
of students as well as the staff.
