Gregory DeAngelo is an associate professor in the
Department of Economic Sciences and director of
the Computational Justice Lab. He has
considerable experience working closely with
public sector agencies to address pressing
questions of criminal justice
2policy while identifying the causal effects of
actions by both legal and extra-legal actors on
public safety. At the core of his work is a
desire to advance criminal justice reform by
identifying the causal impacts of policies,
incentives, and actions by legal and extra-legal
actors on public safety.
3 Recent research has examined the effect of
police and prosecutor discretion on marginalized
community members, especially citizens impacted
by substance abuse of mental health issues. His
research has appeared in top research outlets,
including American Economic Journal Economic
Policy, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of
Health Economics, and Journal of Risk
Uncertainty.
