Title: Symantec CASB - Aurora IT
1Symantec CASB - Aurora IT The rise of working
from home has only accelerated the shift to the
cloud occurring in many organizations. Now, most
companies utilize the cloud in some capacity to
store or share data. Security risk can arise
because of increased cloud usage as many
existing security solutions do not extend to the
cloud, making the data stored in the cloud more
vulnerable to an attack. Cloud Access Security
Broker (CASB) has emerged as a key solution to
protect data in the cloud. A CASB extends
policies that protect data on-premises to the
cloud. This helps to ensure that employees who
are using the cloud to share or store data have
sufficient protection from threats. Many
security companies offer a variation of a CASB
solution. A CASB solution that we often
recommend is Symantec CASB, Cloud SOC. A benefit
of using Symantec CASB is that it can integrate
well with your other Symantec solutions such as
DLP (data loss prevention) or endpoint
protection. What is CASB? Symantec CASB provides
controls to protect your organizational assets
across all cloud applications. It also helps to
support continuous risk monitoring, user
productivity, and adapting access control. A CASB
is also utilized to monitor malware, compromised
accounts, and data loss continuously. Symantec
CASB does this by gathering data from cloud
applications using web gateways, endpoints, and
API integrations. Risk will be indicated and
monitored for every user that accesses the cloud
and security analysts will be alerted
accordingly. Organizations use CASB to enforce
policies in real-time by using a gateway that
blocks malicious content, prevents malicious
actors from stealing data, and prevents
exfiltration of sensitive data. A unique benefit
of Symantec CASB is that it utilized AI
(artificial intelligence) to
2automate the protection of the cloud. AI will
force high-risk users to log in using
multi-factor authentication (MFA) to
reauthenticate users. Introducing SASE For
organizations that demand increased security in
the cloud, the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
framework has emerged to gain better protection
in the cloud and throughout an organizations
environment. CASB is a foundational component of
SASE. When you integrate Symantec CASB solutions
with web security solutions, data loss
prevention, and Zero Trust, the SASE framework
can be achieved, and additional security will be
gained.
