Title: Being A Home Health Aide
1Being A Home Health Aide
Mercy and compassion, these factors motivate us
humans when we help each other. And there is
nothing nobler than a person who is dedicated and
employed for the assistance of another human,
these moments do show that regardless of status,
age, or society, in the end we need each other to
survive. A Home Health Aide is one of those jobs
that represent humanity at its best, and earns
you a high moral value, they are people who are
trained to become certified nursing assistants or
patient care assistants. Their job is basically
to provide specialized assistance for people with
chronic disease, disability or elderly people
who are unable to take care of themselves, an HHA
usually gives a helping hand in the house of
people in need, as it is the place, they can be
most comfortable to receive such care. People
hire an HHA worker because they wish to provide
the best life to their family members or beloved
ones who are going through difficult stage of
their life, but as everyone is equally busy with
their own life struggles, a specialized home
health aide usually comes along to look after
these tasks
- Ensuring medication intakes
- Cooking meals
- Performing health check-ups
- Recording any vital signs
- Doing the laundry
- Household duties
- Bathing and dressing
- Grocery shopping
- Physical and/or light exercising
- The most important task an HHA can provide is the
heartfelt companionship, because a home health
aide does not only perform job tasks, rather they
consistently interact with a person to look after
them and to ensure the smooth flow of their life
despite any struggle they might have or face such
as - Dementia i.e. Alzheimer
- Heart disease
- Chronic illness
- Stroke recovery
- Cancer treatment
- Needing emotional support
2The pandemic of Covid-19 that the whole world is
facing since beginning of 2020, has forced
several businesses to be shut or put on hold,
kept a lot of people at homedue to national
lockdowns, and sent people to work from home,
such events enabled employees to stay home and
take care of their parents and beloved ones by
themselves, add to that the fear of social
contact following recommendations of the health
institutes, all these occurrences placed
additional stress on HHA workers that they
became less demanded. However, since the world is
progressing for the better, the demand for this
job is gradually returning, and it remains one of
the most growing employments and it is projected
to grow 34 between 2019-2029 (1)which is faster
than the average for all occupations. Probably
these hard times made the HHA worker more
prepared for challenges they might face during
their work, such as Hostile patients some
individuals might perceive this as inhibitor to
their independency or privacy. Unpleasant
conditions not all houses are alike in terms of
cleanliness and household order. Inadequate
medical support lack of proper equipment when a
medical work needs to be performed. Home Health
Workers shall be supported just as much as the
support they provide for households, and for the
precious care they provide for people in need,
indeed.
