2. Operational Overview
11EPC and Air Pollution Control Systems
Ducon FGD System
Can achieve over 99 sulfur dioxide removal
efficiency
Can select a packed tower, a spray tower or a
Ventri-Rod Absorber (VRATM) for the wet FGD
application
Higher Efficiency
Wide Range of Selection
Custom designed to remove SO2 from flue gases
using a variety of reagents, such as caustic,
lime, limestone, magnesium oxide, soda ash, sea
water or double alkali
Capability to provide a complete global turnkey
installations including effluent treatment systems
Global Acceptance
Custom Designed
Flue-gas Desulfurization (FGD)
FGD System
Flue-gas Desulfurization (FGD), set of
technologies used to remove sulfur dioxide (SO2)
from exhaust flue gases of fossil-fuel power
plants, and from the emissions of other sulfur
oxide emitting processes
12FGD and Market Demand
Global FGD Market (USD billion)
Demand Drivers
- Asia-Pacific FGD market is expected to exhibit
the fastest growth led by - Increasing demand from the growing industrial
sectors such as cement and metal smelting in
countries like China and India - Alarming pollution levels and stringent laws
introduced by the governments to curb pollution
in the region - Increasing electricity demand in emerging
economies such as China and India is expected to
increase the number of coal-fired power plants - Globally FGD has witnessed a significant growth
in recent years due to - Stringent government policies relating to
emissions of harmful gases in the environment - Implementation of environmental laws and
regulations - Growing concerns over environmental pollution
- Increasing prevalence of airborne diseases
CAGR 4
13FGD Opportunities in Indian Market
Demand Drivers
Opportunities
- 165 GW generating power plants will need to be
fitted with FGD systems. All of the concerned
players have agreed to the implementation
timeline stipulated by the Indian Government,
with an estimated capex of Rs4-5 million/MW to
fulfil Sulphur oxides (SOx) norms - The industry is estimated at Rs1trn
- Central Electricity Authority (CEA), has
recommended phasing of FGD installations
- Stringent government norms relating to emissions
of harmful gases in the environment - Existing plants would have to improve their
pollution control technologies by 2022 and all
the new plants installed after January 2017 would
have to meet global standards
14Dry Bulk Material Handling System
- Ducon specialized in the design, supply,
installation of complete turnkey facilities for
Bulk Material Handling and Pneumatic Conveying
Systems - It supplies systems to unload, store, reclaim,
weigh and sometimes process materials of all
kinds of Power, Cement, Steel, Alumina, Chemical
and Petrochemical industries - The Company has designed and installed over 5000
systems for handling and conveying various
materials to numerous customers around the world - Capacity to do turnkey projects with pneumatic,
hydraulic and mechanical conveying systems and
transhipment systems - Ash handling systems for Power Generation
Industry - The process aimed at removal of ash from boiler
and filter systems - Ducon has the capability and technology to design
the most efficient dense phase conveying system
with capacity as high as 300 TPH and conveying
distance in excess of 1500m
15Rural and Urban Electrification Projects
- Ducon is executing Rural Electrification under
DDUGJY scheme and Urban Electrification under
IPDS scheme. It is newly started segment of Ducon -
- The projects involve, Construction of new 33 /
11KVA sub-stations, Augmentation of 33/11KVA
sub-stations, New 33 KV lines, New 11 KV lines,
Metering, etc. - The company plans to expand volume of this
segment in future
- 2014 Ministry of Power launched the Deen Dayal
Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). The main object of
the scheme was to ensure 100 rural
electrification on targeted manner. It also
involved improving subtransmission and
distribution infrastructure in rural areas - 2015 The Central Government launched the
Integrated Power Distribution Scheme (IPDS) with
the objective to provide 24/7 power for all - 2018 The new Saubhagya Scheme (Pradhan Mantri
Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana) seeks to ensure
universal household electrification, that is, in
both rural and urban areas. Under this scheme,
the identified poor households will get free
electricity connections
The Government of India, with promise of 24 X 7
Electricity to all, is providing Transmission
Distribution through Government funding to the
State Electricity Boards of up to Rs. 43,000
Crores for such electrification projects.
