History of Russian Nesting Dolls

• The first matryoshka nesting doll was made in
  1890. It was engraved by Vasily Zvyozdochkin and
  planned and painted by Sergey Malyutin. The two
  craftsmen were from the Abramtsevo home of Savva
  Mamontov.
