Difference Between HVLS Fans Residential Fans
2
  • We know that most of us right now are looking for
a good ventilation system to get rid of hot
    weather into premises.
  • The best part of the HVLS fan is that it saves up
to 30 in the energy bill.
  • Before purchasing a ceiling fan, read this blog
to make it clear about the difference between
    HVLS Fans Residential fans.
  • How do you know which type of ceiling fan is
right for your space? Lets know the difference.
  • The two main types of ceiling fans are
high-volume low-speed (HVLS) and residential fans.

3
Size
  • The first thing to consider when deciding your
ceiling fan size is the size of the room in which
    it will go.
  • Typically, HVLS Fans can be as small as 7ft to as
large as 24ft in diameter. HVLS fans require a
minimum clearance of 10 ft to ensure adequate
space. HVLS Fans can cover an area of over 20,000
square feet. This type of fans are ideal for big
    premises like warehouses, factories, industry,
    etc.

4
  • On the other side, Residential fans come in a
range of 3ft to 6ft blade spans in diameter. They
are generally used in smaller spaces, but the
size and ceiling height of your space will
determine the exact size of fan you will need.
  • As always, make sure you properly measure the
area where you will be placing your fan to make
    the best purchase decision.

5
Speed
  • Dont be confused with HVLS Fans speed. HVLS fans
spin at a relatively low speed compared to
residential fans. HVLS fans rely on size, not
speed, to move a significant amount of air.
  • The standard residential fan runs at 300/350 RPM
while the Hi-Speed fan runs at 380/390 RPM or so.

AirFlow
  • Airflow plays an important role in HVLS Fans.
These fans move slowly and distribute large
amounts of air at a low rotational speed.
  • Its the best airflow method for cooling your
facility in the warm months while also helping
with thermal destratification in the winter
    months.
  • HVLS Fans Reduces Perceived Temperature Between
10-15º. The primary way HVLS fans work is by
creating a breeze that results in an evaporative
    cooling effect.

7
  • In contrast, residential ceiling fans move air
quickly and at a high speed in a concentrated
downward motion. They also create a wind-chill
effect, making it feel 8 to 10 degrees cooler in
    a room.
  • I hope the above is useful to you. Should you
