Everything You Need to Know About Head Injury

An OVERVIEW
  • Basically, a head injury is a type of injury that
occurs to your skull, scalp, or brain. Well, a
head injury can range from a mid-bruise to a
traumatic brain injury. Some of the common head
injuries are skull fractures, concussions, and
scalp wounds. In fact, cardiovascular procedures
can cause a head injury. CE-marked cerebral
protection devices are used during cardiac
    procedures.
  • The treatment and consequences depend on the type
of head injury. Well, head injuries can be open
or closed too. Its quite difficult to analyze
how serious a head injury is just by seeing the
patient. Some minor injuries bleed a lot.
However, some major injuries dont bleed at all.
Thus, its crucial to consult a doctor.

Lets talk about some of the major types of head
injuries
  • Hematoma
  • Hemorrhage
  • Concussion

4
Hematoma
  • This type of head injury is a collection of clots
and blood. This is an extremely serious brain
    injury.
  • The collection of clotting leads to pressure
inside your skull which can cause you to lose
consciousness and sometimes result in permanent
    brain damage.

5
Hemorrhage
  • Basically, this is uncontrolled bleeding. During
hemorrhage, there is bleeding inside your brain,
which is also called subarachnoid hemorrhage or
    intracerebral hemorrhage.
  • This also causes severe headaches and vomiting.

6
Concussion
  • This injury occurs when there is a huge impact on
your head. A concussion can be the result of an
    accident or fall.
  • Well, the loss of function and speaking disorder
is temporary in this head injury. Although,
repeated concussions can lead to permanent brain
    damage.
