3Egusi Soup
Moin Moin
- Egusi is a delicious soup prepared from the white
variety of pumpkin seeds or Ground Egusi. This
spicy and nutty soup has exotic African flavours.
Apart from these seeds, it also consists of red
palm oil, meats and fish, African crayfish, some
form of leafy greens, hot pepper, and seasoning..
A steamed bean pudding, Moin Moin is prepared
with onions, black-eyed peas, and a combination
of ground peppers. Some people add smoked fish,
while others choose boiled eggs or corned beef
for additional flavour. It can be either served
with rice or bread or can be eaten alone.
4Thieboundienne
- Thieboundienne is a traditional dish prepared
with fish, rice, and tomato sauce. It is
flavoured with carrots, cabbage, spiced onions,
peanut oil, and cassava. Savannah Red Rice, a
dish prepared from American Deep South is quite
similar to this dish.
5Ndole
- This flavourful and aromatic dish is
prepared with bitter leaves, stewed nuts, fish or
beef, or crushed spices. Usually, it is eaten
with rice, potatoes, or plantains. The bitter
leaves in it are cooked many times for removing
the bitterness in them.
6Waakye
Waakye is a well-liked morning food item in
Ghana, but you can also have it anytime in the
day. This flavourful and filling food contains
rice, beans, stew, spaghetti, and moist gari.
While being served, you have the choice to pick
the protein item, including meat, boiled eggs, or
fish. You can also go for a vegetable salad or
Kelewele as extras.
