Title: GCSE and A-Levels Summer 2021

1
GCSE and A-Levels Summer 2021
2
Dinner conversation shocker
3
  • It was a conversation I had over dinner last week
with my step-daughter- currently doing A-levels
that completely took me by surprise. Thinking I
knew the current situation about education,
school closures and lost learning, the impact of
hearing a personal account rendered me
speechless. Hearing from young people what this
situation is like on the ground as it were,
really shocked me. Many of her friends have been
turned down from their University choices despite
being predicted as and As, mostly due to
students who deferred from last year, creating an
educational bottle neck that is likely to
continue for 2 to 3 years.

4
Anxiety
5
  • It is no wonder, that students are anxious.
Theres so much uncertainty and the conversation
about fairness on a global and national scale
    resounds loudly.
  • Undoubtedly, the hardest hit students of all in
the COVID-19 pandemic are our current GCSE and
A-Level students. With so much content untaught,
it is hard to see how both the DfE, schools and
Ofqual can come up with a solution that is gong
    to be fair to everyone.

6
Ofqual Enquiry
7
  • The Education Secretary, recently commissioned an
enquiry into how students will get a fair grade
this year. Every educator is, of course,
breathing a sigh of relief that there is no
algorithm decision and whilst waiting to hear the
outcome, we have been making plans to help as
many tutor gcse and A-Level students as possible.
Whilst we wait for the announcement due next
week, we have realized there is no time to sit on
our laurels and that we have to take action to
    help!

8
GCSEs and A-Levels are pivotal exams
9
  • During my school based career, and now as an
educational consultant, I find myself often
    having the conversation about exams.
Understandably, parents worry that their child is
going to be judged unfavorably or experience
extreme stress. I generally always find myself
giving the sage advice that really- GCSEs and
A-Levels- they are the results that matter, in
the hope, of course, of putting things into
context and helping parents to feel less
concerned. Now that context is in sharp focus and
here at Elite Tutors Sussex we have been
considering what we can do to help.
  • That is why we have just released our GCSE and
A-Level tutor packages, aimed at supporting
students to be the best they can be whether
results are based on teacher assessments for
course work, school based written exams or a
combination, students need to be proving what
they are capable of every step of the way
    throughout the next few months.

10
Get a tutor on board
11
  • The smartest approach, of course is to get an
expert on your team. The qualified teachers that
we introduce you to are experts in their field,
some have even been examiners and most have years
of experience tutor for gcse. Graduate tutors are
also experts in their field and can bring out the
best in your teenager, understanding the
difficulties of the current context well. Having
an online or face to face tutor can have a
significant impact on how your child feels about
their abilities and will help them to feel
confident that they are making good progress and
doing everything they can to get the best results.
