• The N95 is the most common collection of
  particulate respirator masks, which follow the
  requirements of the United States government.
  NIOSH-the National Institute for Occupational
  Safety and Health-is evaluating the face masks to

  NIOSH has nine grades of absolute acceptance,

• NIOSH licensed masks often come in numerous sizes
  and a properly fitted mask is important. Take
  these simple measures when mounting a N95 mask or
  other particulate respirator device 
• 1. Press the mask (respirator) squarely against
  the skin on the bridge of your nose with the
  outside nosepiece.
• 2. Extend and place the top headband behind your
  ears at the back of your head. Extend the
  headband behind the ears over the head and place
  it below.
• 3. Mold the metal nosepiece to the form of the
  nose using both hands.
• 4. Cup both hands over the respirator to check
  suit, then exhale forcefully. If the air flows
  through the ears, secure the nosepiece if the
  air flows around the sides of the respirator,
  reposition the headbands to fit better and check
  again until no air leakage is visible.
