• Skill Select extends to a number of visas and is
  not limited to general skilled migration.
  However, under this programme, the following visa
  subclasses are applicable
• Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189
• Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190
• Skilled Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional)
  Visa Subclass 489 Sponsored temporary visa
• Points-Based Assessment
• In order to qualify for general skilled
  migration, you must meet a pre-determined point
  score.

You can earn the points through your age, your
work experience, your trade or occupation and
your English language proficiency. Further, you
are able to gain your points if you have close
relatives living in Australia or you have studied
or worked in Australia previously. Also, you can
achieve points if you are sponsored by a
State/Territory that needs people with your
skills. Expression of Interest (EOI) Under the
SkilledSelect program, you have to lodge an
Expression of Interest and prepare all
documents required once you have confirmed that
you are eligible for a skilled migration
visa. According to the needs of Australian
economy, the individuals with high scores in
target occupations will be invited by the
Department of Immigration to apply for a visa.
