Title: Some common terms related to lubricants explained
1Some Common Terms Related To Lubricants Explained
2 INTRODUCTION
Lubrication is very important to be understood
and realized by the industry owners and domestic
owners of automobiles and other machines as well.
There are many terms that are difficult to
understand and memorize for most of the people.
This is why there is a need to explain some of
the most commonly used terms that are still not
that much clear.
3 Viscosity
It is may be the most commonly used term when we
talk about lubricants and oils. It can be defined
as the internal friction in the fluid, or the
lubricant. It is the viscosity of an oil that
determines how useful the oil is for the specific
machine at a specific time when the viscosity is
measured.
4 Synthetic Lubricants
It is a type of lubricant that consists of oils
that are made from the artificially created
components. Unlike the other natural oils that
are made from the one single crude oil. After the
chemical processes the different petroleum
components are transformed into the desirable
form to make the synthetic oils which are
suitable for specific use cases.
5 Oil Dispensing
It is a term referred to storing the oil in
dispensers. Oil dispensers are usually overhead
tanks. Otherwise, barrels are also used for oil
dispensing. These dispensers have a pump with
which the oil is pumped out of the dispenser to
fill another container or machine directly.
6 Oil Grade
The grade of an oil means its ability to resist
becoming thin at a certain temperature. It
basically determines the suitability of a
lubricant for a specific machinery or
circumstances like heat involved in the process.
The grade of an oil is represented by a number on
the bottle of the oil that can be seen easily to
decide which one to choose for your specific use
case.
