3EARLY YEARS
The IB framework for Early Years (part of the
Primary Years Programme) focuses on developing
children as inquirers through a play based
learning environment. We believe that our Early
Years students should be in an environment where
they can develop academically, socially and
emotionally. The classrooms in our Early Years
unit are carefully designed and resourced to
enrich learning opportunities and to allow
students to explore their surroundings and to
become passionate about discovering new
information and ideas.
4- The early years of a childs education are vital
to their future success, setting foundations
academically as well as personally and socially.
We recognise that each child is unique and we
personalise learning through careful observation
and documentation of student progress. The Early
Years students follow a play-based curriculum,
acknowledging the social and emotional
development that takes place when students
participate in uninterrupted and purposeful play
5Our students are constantly encouraged to be
independent in their thinking, express themselves
and their opinions confidently, become problem
solvers and work collaboratively with each other.
All our students have opportunities to wonder,
question, work as a team, experiment and play
with different possibilities They are given
choices and freedom to express their creativity,
to think and develop problem solving skills.
Through the curricular and co-curricular
activities planned by our experienced and
passionate team of teachers, we help our students
to inquire, innovate and learn something new
every day.
6- These learning engagements enable children
explore new ideas, initiate play without the
interaction of an adult, improve social
confidence and make friends easily. Well defined
learning centers in the classroom develop maths
and language skills and the students learn to
work in small/large groups either facilitated by
the teachers or independently. The spacious and
well planned outdoor areas, while building their
motor skills in our students the spirit of team
work and the important values of sharing, caring
and taking turns. Events like messy play day,
field trips, sports day, and concerts allow all
students to be themselves whilst building in them
confidence and enabling them to be strong risk
takers.
7Conclusion
- Our overall goal in the Early Years section is to
cater to the individual needs of each child. We
know that all children learn at different rates
and hence we provide them with opportunities to
develop at their own pace whilst challenging them
to reach their full potential. We believe in
providing a holistic learning experience which
promotes students social, emotional, cognitive
and physical development and prepares them to
take their next steps in their educational
journey.
