What is ivf?

• In-vitro fertilization (IVF) is a process where
  an egg is artificially combined with a sperm
  outside the body. The process is carried out
  in-vitro or in simple terms, in a test tube.
• The IVF process is a combination of complex tasks
  that includes monitoring and stimulating a
  womans ovulatory process, removing an egg
  (ovum/ova) from the womans ovaries and letting
  the sperm fertilize the same in a liquid in a
  laboratory. The entire process is carried out
  with the hope of achieving a successful pregnancy
  and can take between 2-5 weeks.

Why is an ivf done or recommended?

WHAT ARE THE TESTS/STEPS TAKEN BEFORE THE IVF
CYCLE ?

• Before beginning a cycle of IVF using your own
  eggs and sperm, you and your partner will likely
  need various screenings, including
• Ovarian reserve testing In this test the clinic
  will test your Follicle Stimulating Hormone
  (FSH), Estrogen and other hormones in the first
  few days of your menstrual cycle.
• Semen analysis In this test the fertility
  analysis of the semen is done. The motility the
  potency rate of the semen is analysed.
• Infectious disease screening- Analysis for HIV/
  Hep C and other infectious diseases is done
• Practice (mock) embryo transfer - Your doctor
  might conduct a mock embryo transfer to determine
  the depth of your uterine cavity and the
  technique most likely to successfully place the
  embryos into your uterus.
