Presidents medal and Rajiv Gandhi Award. She

Meera Borwankar becomes the IPS Officer in 1981
of the Maharashtra Cadre. In 1993-95 she served
as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Mumbai and
was posted on the state CID crime branch. She is
famous as a 'Lady Supercop' after arresting the
gang of Chota Rajan and Daud Ibrahim. Her Instant

making public spaces safer for women and fighting
for sexual harassment. She is now becoming an

97) Archana Ramasundaram
Archana Ramasundaram an IPS Officer, in
2016 she became the first woman to be appointed
as the Director-General of the Sashastra Seema
Bal, Indias paramilitary force based in Nepal
and Bhutan borders. Her present job is to
intervene in transborder crimes like trafficking
and to monitor. Under her supervision, four new
check-posts in Bihar and West Bengal have been
built-up.
108) R. Sreelakha
R. Sreelakha becomes the first IPS from Kerala
Cadre and gained the highest rank in 1987. After
three years, she became the first female to
become superintendent of police in the state and
then she becomes the first woman to be given
Director General of Police rank. In Kerala, a
senior officer once remarked, A lady has come to
pollute the department. And many persons told
her that becoming a police officer meant she
wouldnt find a partner. But she overcomes all
this and battle for the other women to have the
same opportunity she had and pushed for the
police force for recruiting more women.

Sonia Narang an IPS officer has been promoted to
the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police
(DIG) in the Crime Investigation Department
(CID), the premier investigation agency that is
handling many important cases. She born in

University and in sociology, she is a gold
medalist. She is prominent in Karnataka for
