1LED RESIDENTIAL LIGHTINGBRIGHTER, SAFER AND MORE
EFFICIENT!
- Your home is your castle. We take that to heart,
which is why we strive hard to make your castle
look its best through a vast selection of
energy-efficient LED lighting products. We are
expert LED light installers in Victoria. We
propose LED lighting. Why? Because LED
residential lighting saves over 80 percent of
electric energy than traditional lights.
2 WHAT ARE LED LIGHTS?
- LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Its a
semiconductor that converts electrical current
into light with high efficiency. When electric
current passes through the built-in microchip, it
illuminates the tiny light sources called LEDs
that emit light in the visible spectrum. - Unlike old light bulbs (incandescent and CFLs),
LED lights dont require a filament or
fluorescent gas to produce light. Hence, they
dont produce any heat when lit thanks to the
built-in heat sink that absorbs radiated heat to
keep energy consumption and heat dissipation low.
This mean about 80 less energy is used to
produce greater brightness per watt while
emitting almost negligible heat.
3HOW LEDS ARE DIFFERENT FROM INCANDESCENT BULBS
AND CFLS?
- LED bulbs are very different from incandescent
bulbs and CFLs. Key differences include the
following -
- Light Source LEDs are of grain size, and a mix
of red, green, and blue LEDs is typically used to
make white light. - Direction LEDs emit light in a specific
direction, reducing the need for reflectors that
can trap light. This feature makes LEDs more
efficient. - Heat LEDs emit very little heat, whereas
incandescent release about 90 of their energy as
heat and CFLs release about 80 of energy as
heat. - Lumen Wattage LED bulbs require much less
wattage than CFL or Incandescent light bulbs,
which is why LEDs are more energy-efficient and
longer lasting than their competitors. -
- How to understand this table look at the lumens
(brightness) in the far left column, then compare
how many watts of power each light bulb type
requires to produce that level of brightness. The
lower the wattage needed, the better. -
4Lumens (Brightness) Watts (LED) Watts (CFL) Watts (Incandescent)
400 500 6 7W 8 12W 40W
650 850 7 10W 13 18W 60W
1000 1400 12 13W 18 22W 75W
1450-1700 14 20W 23 30W 100W
2700 25 28W 30 55W 150W
5WHAT IS ENERGY EFFICIENT LIGHTING?
- Energy efficiency refers to the amount of energy
required to provide appropriate light. In
conventional bulbs like incandescent, halogen and
fluorescent bulbs, most of the electricity is
wasted in terms of heat since ballast requires
high voltage at the time of starting, resulting
in more power consumption. In other words, energy
efficient lighting means achieving more
illumination from less power by replacing high
power consumption products like incandescent,
halogen and CFL bulbs with highly
energy-efficient LED products. - As discussed, LED bulbs are better than
conventional light bulbs in several ways. First
and foremost being reduced energy usage because
LED lighting requires far less power to run than
traditional lights. Which is why the Victorian
government has created a rebate program called
the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) to
incentivize greener industry initiatives to
reduce overall environmental impact. The program
was formerly known as the Victorian Energy
Efficiency Target (VEET) scheme.
6 WHAT IS VEU PROGRAM?
- The VEU program is a Victorian Government
initiative to promote and encourage energy
efficient technology. The rebate program covers
both residential as well as commercial setups and
provides financial incentives for switching to
more energy efficient products and practices. - The program is one of the most popular
energy-saving initiatives by the Australian
government to make energy efficiency improvements
more affordable to Victorian households and
businesses. It is administered in accordance with
the VEU Regulations 2008 by the Essential
Services Commission. Since the date of
commencement, the VEU program aims to - Make energy efficiency improvements more
affordable for business and householdsContribute
to the reduction of greenhouse gases Encourage
investment, employment, and technology
development in industries supplying energy
efficiency products and services across Victoria

under the VEU program which is a mandatory
carbon reduction scheme devised by the Victorian
government. - The aim of the scheme is to reduce greenhouse
emissions by replacing old, power-hungry lights
with energy-efficient LED lights.
10IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
- LED technology has been around for some time and
fast becoming an effective and reliable lighting
solution. LEDs are well known for their longevity
and high energy efficiency. LEDs we install last
30,000 to 50,000 hours, considerably higher than
the 1,000 hours for an incandescent bulb and
8,000 to 10,000 hours for a CFL bulb. LEDs
usually dont burn out like incandescent bulbs. - Ecologically, LEDs consume very low energy
compared to conventional lighting products. Low
energy consumption translates into a reduction in
greenhouse gas emissions while longevity in waste
reduction. - Monetarily, low energy consumption and longer
lifespan translate into savings through reduced
power bills and zero maintenance costs. - Hence from the financial and environmental point
of view, switching to LEDs is the right approach.

13HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LED PRODUCT FOR YOUR
HOME?
- Wattage The LED lighting is about reducing
wattage usage without losing the light output.
For example, a standard halogen downlight uses 50
Watts, we replace it with a 10 Watt LED
downlight. - Lumens Lumen is the standard unit for measuring
the amount of light produced by a light source.
It is equal to the amount of light hitting one
square foot of surface one foot away from the
light. Essentially, the higher the lumens, the
brighter the light. - Lumens Per Watt This shows the efficiency of an
LED bulb. For example a 270lm bulb consuming 3
Watts of electricity 90 lumens per watt. Lumens
per watt vary from product to product, depending
on the LED chip used and efficiency of the heat
sink at minimizing the heat emission. - Beam Angle The beam angle is essential in LED
lighting. This is as important as the lumens.
Beam angle indicates the spread of light from the
light source. A narrow beam gives a concentrated
light which is better for accent lighting. A wide
beam gives a more general, softer light perfect
for open spaces. - SOURCEhttps//www.ipromiseaustralia.com.au/
