What is Tapentadol?
  • Tapentadol is a narcotics pain medication. A
    narcotic is sometimes called an opioid.
    Tapentadol is always used to treat moderate to
    severe pain. The expand-release form of
    Tapentadol (Nucynta ER) is for the
    throughout-the-clock cure of pain that is not
    handled by other medicines. Nucynta ER is not for
    utilizing on an as-needed basis for pain.

Important Information
  • Do not use Tapentadol if you have applied an MAO
    inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug
    interaction could happen. MAO inhibitors involve
    isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue
    injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or
    tranylcypromine.
  • You should not use this medicine if you are
    suffering from breathing problems, or a bowel
    obstruction called paralytic ileus.
  • Tapentadol could slow or stop your breathing,
    especially when you start using this medicine or
    whenever your dose is changed. Never take this
    medicine in larger doses, or for longer than
    prescribed. Do not crush, break, or open an
    expand-release tablet. Consume it whole to avoid
    exposure to a likely fatal dose.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are
    pregnant. Tapentadol can make harm to your child
    or also the risk of your life and your newborn
    baby live if the mother has taken this medicine
    during pregnancy.
  • Dangerous side effects can happen if you use this
    medicine with alcohol, or with other drugs that
    cause drowsiness or slow your breathing or stop
    your breathing.

To make sure tapentadol is safe for you, tell
your doctor if you have ever had

    thyroid
  • Liver or kidney disease or
  • Urination problems
  • If you use narcotic medicine while you are
    pregnant, your baby could become hanging on the
    drug. This can generate life-threatening
    withdrawal symptoms in the baby after it is born.
    Babies born dependent on narcotic may need
    medical treatment for several weeks. Do not give
    Tramadol to the child and you should not
    breast-feed while using Tramadol.

How should I take Tapentadol?
  • Take Tapentadol absolutely as prescribed. Follow
    the directions on your prescription label and
    read all medication advice. Never use Tapentadol
    in larger doses, or for longer than prescribed.
    Tell your doctor if you feeling an increased urge
    to take more of this medicine.
  • Never share narcotic medicine with another
    person, especially someone with a history of drug
    abuse or addiction. Misuse can make you addicted,
    overdose, or death. Remain the medication in a
    place where others cannot get to it. Selling or
    giving away narcotic medicine is against the law.
    You should take this medicine with a full glass
    of water and it can be taken with food or without
    food. You have to stop taking other pain medicine
    while you start the Tramadol Tablets.
