Palais des Papes
Most people do not even know that between the
years 1309 to 1377, the Roman Catholic Church was
governed by Avignon in Provence, France. And to
this day, papal palace, Palais des Papes, is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. The place is
considered to be the largest Gothic palace in the
world.
