Western Calligraphy

• The Roman/Latin alphabet appeared around 600 B.C.
  Cyrillic and Greek alphabets were also used.
• Churches helped spread calligraphy throughout
  Europe through handwritten copies of the Bible.
• Many styles of writing (scripts) developed.

• A calligraphic style used in China for the Arabic

• Thick and tapered strokes like in Chinese

• Eastern China, Gansu, Ningxia, and Shaanxi
