The Hornbill Festival is celebrated once in a

Festivals. The celebrations of the fiesta
commence from 1st December and culminate on 10th
December every year. The festivities take place
in the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, located
around 12 km away from the capital city Kohima.
It starts at 9 a.m. every day.

The Hornbill festival is a 10-day long festival
connects all the tribes of Nagaland. The festival
begins with an invocation to the spiritual deity
through a tribal dance and is followed by the
inauguration of textile and handloom stalls,

handicrafts, songs, dances, and traditional

Rock Festival held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium

  they are required to register themselves with the
  Foreigners Registration Office.

  advance to make the most of the festival because
  it is popular among the tourists and receives a

How to reach the Hornbill Festival?

• By Air Dimapur Airport is the nearest airport to
  reach Kohima, located at a distance of 74 km.
  Since Dimapur Airport does not operate
  internationally, foreigners will have to commute
  via Kolkata or Delhi Airport. At the Dimapur
  Airport taxi can be hired to reach the Hornbill
  Festival.
• By Train Similarly, Due to its tough hilly
  location Kohima does not have its own railway
  station. Dimapur is the nearest railway station
  which shares connectivity with Guwahati and
  Kolkata.
• By Road NH39 is a major highway connecting the
  major Northeastern states. Kohima is also
  accessible via Guwahati and Shillong.
