What is Pilonidal Sinus?

• A pilonidal sinus is a tiny cyst located near the
  tail bone at the top of the cleft of the
  buttocks. Generally, a pilonidal sinus contains
  hair, skin debris and dirt.
• It may catch infections and cause severe pain.
  When infected, it can leak pus, blood and have a
  foul odor.
• Pilonidal cysts are commonly found in young men,
  and the condition has a tendency to recur.

• The exact reason for pilonidal cysts is not

  caused by loose hairs that enter the skin.

  and cycling, prolonged sitting are some factors
  which may force the hair down into the skin.
