2.Eosinophilic EnteritisEosinophilic infiltrate
involves the intestinal wall from the subserosa
to the submucosa (line and arrows) but spares the
mucosa. The inset shows a higher power view of
the infiltrate of eosinophils
3 NECROTIC
ENTERITISNecrosis of small intestinal mucous
coat. The affected mucosal layer is altered into
necrotic detritus, part of which protrudes into
the intestinal lumen.
4VIRAL ENTERITIS COMPLEX (RUNTING STUNTING
SYNDROME)Diffuse inflammatory cell proliferate
in small intestinal mucous coat. Chickens at the
age of 5 - 12 days are affected. Etiologically,
reoviruses, astroviruses and rotaviruses,
individually or collectively, are involved.
5Necrotic enteritis associated with
Clostridium perfringensin wild crowHistologicall
y, there was severe necrotic enteritis
characterized by extensive necrosis in the
intestinal wall, including the mucosa, submucosa
and muscle layers, as well as multifocal
haemorrhages and inflammatory cell infiltrations
in all cases examined. In the mucosa of the
affected intestine, dilated blood vessels with
thrombosis were frequently observed, along with a
large amount of fibrin exudation. There was a
prominent pseudo-membrane formation consisting of
large amounts of fibrinous exudation,
degenerating heterophils and cell debris in the
distal small intestine
6Enteritis Necroticans (Pigbel)Panel A shows
extensive coagulation necrosis of the intestinal
mucosa (asterisks)Panel B shows more intense
inflammation in a pseudomembranous pattern, with
evidence of regenerating epithelium Panel C
shows many gram-positive bacilli with features
consistent with those of clostridium species
7Microscopic Enteritis (Marsh I and Marsh II)
Normal villi with pathological increase of T
Lymphocytes (A) with cript hyperplasia. (B) This
form of mucosal abnormality is overlooked by many
pathologists.
8 Crypt shortfall due to loose fibrous tissue at
the base of the mucosa with several vessels and
eosinophils
