What is Water Purification ?

• Water purification is the process of removing
  undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants,
  suspended solids and gases from water.
• It is a process by which undesired chemical
  compounds, organic and inorganic materials, and
  biological contaminants are removed from water.

Distillation

• The process of heating liquid mixture to form
  vapor and then cooling the vapor to get a liquid
  is called simple distillation.
• Distillation is the process of separating the
  components or substances from a liquid mixture by
  using selective boiling and condensation.
  Distillation may result in essentially complete
  separation, or it may be a partial separation
  that increases the concentration of selected
  components in the mixture.

• Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water
  purification technology that uses a partially
  permeable membrane to remove ions, molecules and
  larger particles from drinking water. In reverse
  osmosis, an applied pressure is used to
  overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative
  property, that is driven by chemical
  potential differences of the solvent,
  a thermodynamic parameter.
