About GMAT

• In 1953, representatives from several colleges,
  including Harvard and Columbia, met to discuss
  the making of a standardized entrance examination
  for business school.
• In 1976, the Graduate Management Admissions
  Council changed the name of the exam to the
  Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
• The GMAT is a standardized, computer-adaptive
  test that lets you showcase your writing,
  reasoning and analytical skills in order to
  pursue an MBA from a graduate school of business.
  
• Because the GMAT Test is an international test
  with objective assessment criteria, it tends to
  predict academic success better than grade point
  average, which can vary based on a schools
  policies and business curriculum.

• More than 1,600 schools require or accept GMAT
  Scores from applicants, so preparing for the test
  is important. The right preparation strategy can
  raise a students score enough to make a
  difference between being accepted to a program
  and being rejected or waitlisted.
• There is no specific date for the GMAT Exam.
  Candidates can take this exam whenever they wish
  simply through registration.
• A candidate can appear for the GMAT exam only 5
  times in a year and once in a month. Also, if you
  score an 800 on the exam, you will not be allowed
  to retake the test for another 5 years!

Structure of the GMAT

• The GMAT or Graduate Management Aptitude Test is
  a Computer-based Adaptive Test (CAT). It judges
  the students in the following four areas.
• Analytical Writing Assessment 
• Integrated Reasoning 
• Quantitative section 
• Verbal section

GMAT Score Structure

• AWA scores range from 0-6, in 0.5-point
  increments
  
• IR scores range from 1-8, in 1-point increments
• Quantitative scores range from 6-51, in 1-point
  increments.
• Verbal scores range from 6-51, in 1-point
  increments.
• Total GMAT Score can range from 200-800, in
  10-point increments

• Students take the GMAT if they think to take up a
  graduate program in management at a university
  abroad.
• Most universities which offer an MBA program for
  international students wanted all candidates to
