Title: Negative Health Effects of Water Bottle Pollution
1Negative Health Effects of Water Bottle Pollution
2Why Plastic Bottles are Used?
Reports say more than 50 billion plastic water
bottles are sold in a year worldwide. Plastic
bottles are used widely for packaging mineral
drinking water, aerated drinks, juices and
syrups, and more. They are lightweight which
makes it popular for transporting liquids.
3Environmental Effects of Plastic Bottles
Plastic is non biodegradable. A single bottle
takes more than 1000 years to decompose
naturally. The plastic water bottles
environmental impact is huge. An estimated 17
million barrels of oil is used every year in the
manufacturing of plastic water bottles.
Additionally, it takes three times the volume of
water to manufacture one bottle of water than it
does to fill it. Valuable and exhaustible
resources of the earth are wasted.
4Health Effects of Plastic Bottles
The physical effects of water bottle pollution
are caused due to Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical
which makes the plastic hard and clear. It has
been linked with heart diseases, early puberty in
girls, reduced fertility in women, neurological
difficulties, and even certain types of cancer.
Another harmful substance is Phthalates which can
cause reduced sperm count, testicular abnormality
and other issues.
5Replace the Use of Plastic Bottles
Reusable water bottles made of glass, stainless
steel, aluminum or copper are good substitutes to
using plastic bottles. They are BPA free, thus
safer for the health. Additionally, they are made
of biodegradable materials, thus, eco-friendly.
