Introduction

• The drowning chain is a chain where each link in
  the chain can lead on to another link, or
  directly to a drowning or near drowning. The
  chain is used by lifeguards as a basis for
  targeting their activity at preventing, rather
  than reacting to, drowning or other incidents.

Inability to Cope

• The people who are visiting a beach will have a
  very limited experience with ocean or a beach.
  Hence there are more chances of drowning in
  water. It's tough for the normal people to cope
  up with the environment.

Lack of Education

• People with lack of experience in ocean setting
  are more prone to risks and dangerous situations.
  Due to their lack of experience, they are unable
  to identify dangerous hazards in the ocean.

• As result, this inexperienced swimmer will put
  themselves in dangerous situations. While
  undergoing lifeguard management training
  lifeguards are trained to handle such situations
  and save lives.

Lack of Protection

• A very common factor in aquatic rescues and
  drowning is a lack of protection. This can also
  include a lack of proper swim attire and
  flotation devices in order to protect the swimmer
  from hazards.

Lack of Safety Advice

• In the absence of lifeguards, the general public
  is at risk of beach and ocean hazards. Without
  lifeguards directing towards safety spots, the
  general public is at extreme risks and open to
  potential ocean hazards.
