Title: Can Children Benefit From Kid's Dance Classes?
1Can Children Benefit From Kid's Dance Classes?
2Parents often wonder if it makes sense to enroll
their children in kid's dance classes. In other
words, is there a benefit to doing so? Unless the
child wants to pursue a career in that field,
should they take classes?
3Would you think twice about the benefits of your
kid being involved with an after-school sports
program?
4No, you probably wouldn't. You'd say that it
makes sense for them to be involved with
something that got them away from the computer
and the TV for a while. The same is true with
dance classes.
5Plus, the classes offer an alternative to
traditional sports. Not only are they usually,
but kids will learn something they might not
otherwise ever have the opportunity to learn.
6One concern that a lot of parents have is with
whether or not the classes will help their kid
develop social and motor skills. Many parents
encourage their kids to pursue sports because of
those two things. But without a doubt, both of
those things also improve if a child is actively
involved with dance classes.
7Some kids really don't like the idea of being
involved with traditional sports. Not everyone is
cut out to be an athlete.
Sitting around in front of a computer or TV all
afternoon getting no exercise at all? This is
where dance classes can really make a big
difference. If sports or marching band isn't an
option, dancing might be just the thing to get
your child active.

9You shouldn't force your child into kid's dance
classes. If they want to pursue sports or some
other activity, give it a chance. But if they
express an interest in dancing, let them pursue
that as well.
