Title: What Role Do Transformers Play - Miracle Electronics

1
What Role Do Transformers Play Miracle
Electronics
Electricity is produced at very high voltages in
power grids, and this voltage varies from country
to country and in fact, it also varies between
regions within a single country. But, however it
may vary, the produced electricity is not fit for
being used directly into homes, offices, and
factories. The high power of electricity produced
will explode the appliances used, and cause
extreme risk to the end users. This is where
transformers come to the rescue.
What do transformers do? Transformers are used to
lower the voltage of electricity coming from the
power grid to a suitable value that can be used
within homes and offices. Here again, different
appliances require different amount of voltage.
For example, large appliances like air
conditioners and water heaters require 220-240
volts of electricity, while other appliances like
televisions and computers require only 110-120
volts. Therefore, different sizes and types of
transformers are required for different
applications. Transformers are seen at the top of
power poles as well as in appliances. They may
be as small as an inch to be used in microphones,
or large enough to be used in huge and heavy
devices used in power grids.

How is electricity transferred from power grids
to end users? The electricity produced in power
grids needs to travel very long distances to be
able to spread throughout the nation so as to
supply every home, office, factory, and
commercial space with power supply. Because the
power produced is in the value of massive lakhs
of volts, it needs to be stepped down to some
thousands of volts through a substation. Then
local power pole transformers further drop the
voltage down to 220-240 volts before sending
electricity to end users. How do transformers
work? Transformers are made up of two coils of
wire primary and secondary with one having
more number of windings than the other. When
electricity in the coil with more windings
transfers to the coil with lesser windings, the
voltage steps down. Conversely, when electricity
in the coil with less windings transfers to the
coil with more windings, the voltage steps up.
There are also other transformers that have only
one coil, with circuits connected to it at
different points so that one circuit has more
coil and wire turns than the other. Such
transformers are smaller, lighter, and have
better voltage stability and overload
tolerance. With so many varieties of transformers
available, it gets very difficult for users to
decide as to which transformers they may use.
This is when you need to speak to an expert to
guide you. Miracle Electronics is one of the
leading transformer manufacturers in India who
you can approach for the same. You can approach
them with your requirements, and they will let
you know the type and configuration of
transformers you require. They will also then
provide you readily available or specially
customized transformers as per y our
requirements. You can get all sorts of
transformers from them including toroidal, power,
three phase, medical isolation, audio output,
audio line matching, EI, UI, and SMPS
transformers.
