If treated properly and not mishandled by adults
and children, turtles can live 50 or more years.
Here are few tips which will help you to raise a
baby water turtle.

• An aquarium or even tupperware is fine for
  babies. Just make sure it is big enough for its
  ultimate size, not the size it is now.
• Provide a place to climb out of the water to dry
  off thoroughly such as a rock sticking out above
  the water or a piece of driftwood. And also add
  water plants inside the enclosure to give the
  baby pet a nice and natural atmosphere.

• Keep them warm (75-85 degrees F.) throughout the
  winter months. Remember that you have to change
  the water daily or else use a filter and change
  the water every three days.
• Dont place the aquarium outdoors in the
  sunlight. If placed outside, your turtles will be
  boiled to death in minutes.

• When the weather is warm, place them outdoors in
  a kiddie pool filled a little less than half with
  water.
• Fill the tank with an inch of water, use an
  undertank heater, a thermometer and a place to
  dry off and your turtle should remain healthy
  until you can place him outside in the spring.

• Feeding
• Most of the water turtles are carnivorous. Feed
  them the tiny worms, slugs, bugs, prepared food
  like Reptomin. Some nibble lettuce floating on
  water.
• You should feed them 1-2 times a day.
